In this 16th fully revised and expanded edition of the bestseller, the Deutsche Standards publishing house showcases the leaders in German products and services. And Pilz – a brand like no other, which has stood for safety in automation for over 60 years – has been included in the latest edition of this standard work. Publisher Dr. Florian Langenscheidt presented the Deutsche Standards' "Brand Prize" to Managing Partner Renate Pilz at the book's launch on 15 October 2009 in Frankfurt.
The book runs to 680 pages and features all those companies who ensure a good reputation for "made in Germany", while also providing an insight into German economic history. A total of 281 brands are portrayed in the book. Online brands were included for the first time.
The individual brands were selected by an 8-strong panel, all of whom are renowned brand experts, such as Prof. Dr. Heribert Meffert, Bernd Michael and Jean-Remy von Matt.
"Brands of the Century" is also published in two special editions, in English and Chinese. These special editions will be distributed to guests at the German Pavilion at the football World Cup in South Africa and also at the World Expo in Shanghai.
"This makes us ambassadors for the German economy. We can give international guests an impressive demonstration of the tremendous work our domestic industry is capable of", says a delighted Langenscheidt. Copies of "Brands of the Century" are also available in all German embassies and Goethe Institutes around the globe.
