When setting up machinery, safe operation must be guaranteed while the safety gate is open. This means that the speed of the machine must be safely reduced during setup. It should also be guaranteed that the machine will follow the selected direction.
The solution
Servo amplifiers PMCprotego DS provide the necessary safety in this case. Thanks to their drive-integrated safety functions, setup can take place safely.
The safely limited speed function monitors the drive to check that a defined maximum speed is not exceeded. If the speed limit value is exceeded, the drive is shut down safely.
Using these safety functions in the setup process reduces setup times, as the tool setter can access the protected area and therefore obtain a better insight into the setup area. As a result, the necessary industrial safety is guaranteed through a safely limited setup speed and by ensuring that the direction of movement corresponds to the selected jog function.
