Successful application!

PSS 4000 used successfully
Implementation of the first project with the automation system PSS 4000.

The first project using the automation system PSS 4000 has been implemented successfully! A chairlift has been fitted with PSS 4000 components in the Swiss ski resort of Ovronnaz, at the gateway to Valais.

The following components are installed in a control cabinet in the drive station located at 1,848 m:

  • One control system PSSuniversal PLC
  • Two decentralised systems PSSuniversal I/O

Communication with a decentralised system on the mountain station at 2,122 m occurs via the real-time Ethernet SafetyNET p.

To guarantee the safe operation of the chairlift, PSS 4000 monitors emergency stop circuits, speed, safety brakes and service brakes, as well as rope tension. The system also undertakes all the standard control functions – from the main drive to the embarkation conveyor and rope tension. This also includes control and regulation of the brakes. As a result, PSS 4000 controls and monitors the entire installation.

Dovetailing safety and standard in one uniform control system simplified the overall structure. So with the automation system PSS 4000 it was possible to concentrate the functions from the previous control systems into just one system, significantly reducing the interface problem.
